• Bio: Brewer was among the most accomplished pitchers in Negro Leagues history, compiling a 2.89 ERA in 25 seasons. He played 12 seasons with the Kansas City Monarchs and went 17-3 in 1929 to help the Monarchs win a pennant. He was elected to the Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame in 1966. He was a Pirates scout in the 1950s and '60s and helped found a youth league in Los Angeles that produced Bob Watson and Reggie Smith.
