Dick Lundy (1898-1965)

Status: Player/manager

Bio: New York Giants manager John McGraw, who often was quoted about the ability of African-American players near the turn of the 20th century, said "King" Lundy was the "best shortstop alive [in the early 1900s], except for Honus Wagner." Lundy was a switch-hitter who became player-manager of the Bacharach Giants at age 27. He played from 1916-39.
