George "Tubby" Scales (1900-76)

Birthplace: Talladega, Ala.

Status: Player/manager

Bio: As an infielder in a quarter-century career in the Negro Leagues, Scales batted .321 lifetime with an on-base percentage of .402. He also managed six seasons in the Negro Leagues and 12 seasons in Puerto Rico, where he won six pennants and one Caribbean World Series (1951).
