• Bio: On July 19, 1947 - two weeks after Larry Doby broke the color barrier in the American League with the Indians - Brown joined the St. Louis Browns. He played in the majors for a month, then went back to doing what he did best: tearing up Negro Leagues pitching. In a 15-year career, played primarily with the Kansas City Monarchs, he batted .351 with a .374 on-base percentage and a .574 slugging average.
